Create and edit assets
Add new assets, update details, and control lifecycle state.
Use this workflow whenever a new item enters service or existing asset data changes.
Create a new asset
- Open Assets.
- Select the module the asset belongs to.
- Select Add asset.
- Fill required fields:
- Display name
- Lifecycle status
- Module-specific required fields
- Fill recommended fields:
- Asset code
- Location
- Last inspected date
- Select Save.
Edit an existing asset
- Open the asset row.
- Select Edit.
- Update changed values only.
- Save.
Archive vs delete
- Archive: keeps history and hides from normal list views.
- Delete: removes the active record from normal operations.
Use archive for normal lifecycle transitions. Use delete only when the record should not remain active.
Tips for better data quality
- Keep naming format consistent across sites.
- Always set location for field teams.
- Keep asset code unique inside the module.
- Use comments/notes only for context that belongs to the asset itself.
